Michael fell in love with volleyball when he was introduced to the sport following a successful high school basketball career. He went on to play Division I volleyball for George Mason University in Fairfax, VA from 1994-1997. After his college playing career, Michael was offered and accepted the assistant coaching position at Marymount University in Arlington, VA. After returning to his hometown Atlanta, Michael accepted the head coach position with Spelman College. During his four years at Spelman, he led the Jaguars to a dramatic turnaround in the program and their first winning seasons. Since completing his stay at Spelman College, Michael found his true calling which is having a positive impact on the lives of young athletes through coaching Junior Olympic volleyball. He has coached every level of junior athlete and has helped lead many teams and individuals to success both on and off the court.

Michael is also involved in the sport in many other areas. He has been a referee for many years, officiating both college and high school matches including the 5A state final in 2005. He has also run several tournaments and leagues for adults, including the popular SDA league in Marietta.

Michael is still playing high level volleyball as player/coach for his men’s team, ProLink, which travels all over the United States and beyond to compete. Some highlights include winning the first inaugural Bahamas International Invitational volleyball tournament, winning the prestigious Hi-Neighbor and Air City tournaments on numerous occasions, representing the SRVA as regional champions at USA Nationals in every year they participated since 1996, and finishing in the top 10 nationally on several occasions. Michael has also had a very prestigious career playing outdoor, both grass and sand. He has won too many tournaments to count over the past 15 years.

Michael and co-director Mark Reilly began ProLink Atlanta Volleyball Club for juniors in 2007 to give back to the sport that has given them so much.
